The Problem

The Dealer Portal is the platform that CDK Dealers manage apps they subscribe to on Fortellis. User feedback revealed that there was a need to not only subscribe to apps but Dealers also wanted to access APIs directly to power their business data needs. This was a large feature to be added to Dealer Portal and the current navigation to just manage apps would need an overhaul.

Dealer Portal - Left Navigation

The solution to this would be the addition of a left navigation. The benefits of this solution:

  • Scalable as the platform grows

  • Improved hierarchy of operations. Apps and APIs would be separately managed.

  • User feedback applied directly to onboarding flows and edit flows, making discoverability and use much easier.

Highlights of the galleries below:

  • Gallery 1 is the current user journey map for onboarding an app (no left nav)

  • Gallery 2 is the first step of improvements that include the left nav. The onboarding flow is still kept minimal to keep the user focused on completing the onboarding process

  • Gallery 3 is the future state with a Dealer Dashboard, robust left nav and ability to manage Apps and APIs.

  • Ability to jump from CDK applications using Unify

  • Robust Dashboard that will serve up custom content based on the user

  • Manage Apps, APIs, Reports and Shop for more all in the same spot

  • Scalable solution for future features
